Nickel - Cobalt 97
Volume I: Hydrometallurgy and Refining of Nickel and Cobalt Edited by: |
|
The
Hydrometallurgy and Refining of Nickel and Cobalt proceedings volume
comprises 36 papers on some of the latest research and development work on
the various hydrometallurgical options for processing nickel-cobalt ores and
concentrates as well as improvements in plant operations. As the
nickel-bearing laterites represent the world's largest reserve of this metal,
a number of papers in these proceedings focus on laterite processing - for
example, on the pressure acid leaching, which appears to be the preferred
route for nickel cobalt solubilization and, on the various options for nickel
cobalt separation and refining among which solvent extraction has attracted
considerable attention. The latest on several new laterite projects currently
being developed is also presented. Several papers in this volume deal with
the electrorefining of nickel matte and impurities removal. Although
biotechnology has not played a major role to date in the hydrometallurgy of
nickel and cobalt, there is an indication of its potential in the several
papers on the bioleaching of metal sulphides and cobalt arsenides, and on
solution purification. The technical program of
27th Annual Hydrometallurgical Meeting is available

Iron
Control and Disposal |
|
This
proceedings volume contains 46 papers which cover all aspects of the iron
control problem in hydrometallurgy. Wherever possible, review papers updating
the technological advances since the 1st symposium on iron control in
hydrometallugy, held in Toronto in 1986, have been included. All aspects of
iron control, both hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical, in the zinc
industry are coverd, as are the iron control problems in the copper, nickel
and cobal industries. Emphasis is given to the control of iron in the
processing of nickel laterites, which are currently receiving renewed
interest. A complete session is devoted to the potential of solvent
extraction and ion exchange techniques as alternative approaches to the
commonly employed precipitation methods for solving iron control problems.
Methods of dealing with iron in both conventional and stainless steel pickle
liquors are addressed, as are the production and disposal of
environmentally-stable iron residues. Included in this latter area is the
ever-topical use of iron for the elimination and control of arsenic in
hydrometallurgical processing liquors. |

Impurity
Control and Disposal in Hydrometallurgical Processes |
|
This book
covers many aspects of modern purifications and impurity control which are
essential in today's climate of improved product quality and sount
environmental practice. There are papers covering impurity control for the
major base metals, comper, zinc, and nickel, as well as dealing with the
problems of, and latest developmetns in, the control and disposal of arsenic.
Recent developments in ion exchange technology, newer technologies such as
supported liquid membranes, as well as "mature" technologies such
as solvent extraction and electro stripping are covered. |
